Tis the Season for Public Way and Sidewalk Cafe Permits

With Spring in full swing, it’s time to make sure you have the proper outdoor use permits for your business. Signs, canopies, awnings, planters, lighting, or other items for your business that are placed on city streets, sidewalks, or parkways require a public way use permit from the Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection. Similarly, if you are a brick-and-mortar tavern or restaurant that serves patrons on the sidewalk in front of or next to your business, you need to have a Sidewalk Cafe permit.
